Health Care for All – Wrong way
By dan | September 19, 2009
Today about 100 protesters took to the streets of Superior Wisconsin in an effort to bring attention to Health Care Insurance Reform. Are they going about it the right way or the wrong way?
I arrived at 10 am at the Superior Public Library Park where the protesters were gathering in preparation to march down to the Court House. I thought how fortunate I was that 90% of all the people out and about in Superior this morning had not yet found their way here because they were probably out at the local yard sales.
The other real obvious thing I saw was there were no people of color at this rally other than Caucasians.
Truly an interesting note is there were no Afro-Americans, no Hispanic-Americans, no Asian-Americans. Why is that interesting to note? This is an extremely Democratic region of the country and has been for years. However, it is also an extremely racist region. Look back into Superior’s and Duluth’s history up to today and you will surely see why I say that.
So you might be racist if (a.) …you are against Barack Obama’s plans to nationalize Health Care Insurance; (b.) …you are Joe Wilson in an Congressional Joint Session and yell “You Lie”, (c.) …you are a conservative, and (d.) …you are a Twin Ports Democrat throwing a protest and not inviting your black, brown, or yellow neighbors. You decide.
